NEW ORLEANS--The University of Washington women's team held steady, while the men's squad (above/photo by Paul Merca) dropped two spots in the third week of the United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I poll, released Tuesday.
The Husky women maintained their spot as the country's #15 team, while the men dropped to #28 in the men's poll from #26.
The top five women's teams in the country, according to the coaches' poll are Michigan, Michigan State, Oregon, Stanford and Georgetown.
Other women's teams from the Pac-12 conference in the national top 30 include Colorado at #8, and Arizona State at #25.
The top five men's teams in the poll are Colorado, Northern Arizona, Oregon, Oklahoma State, and Portland.
Other men's teams from the Pac-12 include Stanford at #6, and UCLA at #20.
Washington State, which won the Sundodger Invitational over the Huskies, and the Stanford Invitational last weekend, did not receive votes from the coaches.
The Huskies host the Washington Invitational this Saturday at Jefferson Park Golf Course on Beacon Hill, featuring nationally ranked men's teams from Indiana (#7), Northern Arizona (#2), Oklahoma (#26), Portland (#5), Stanford (#6), UCLA (#20), Villanova (#9), and Virginia (#13).
Nationally ranked women's teams competing at the Washington Invitational include #3 Oregon, #4 Stanford, and #13 Villanova.
